BANDA ACEH | ACEH INFO – Chairman of the Provincial Board (Pengprov) Hapkido Aceh, Amal Hasan, SE, M,Si requested that the Aceh Hapkido athletes who will compete in the National Sports Week (PON) XXI Aceh North Sumatra 2024 to focus on the match and achieve the best achievements at the national event.
This was conveyed by Amal Hasan when releasing the Aceh Hapkido athletes, Sunday, September 8, 2024 at one of the Cafes in the Lampineung area, Banda Aceh City. Amal Hasan hopes that the athletes will perform optimally, remain sportive, and be able to take advantage of the benefits of being the host.
“Focus on the match, try to perform optimally, achieve the best achievements, and maintain the good name of the region and Aceh culture. More than that, strengthen the spirit and mentality of competing with high cohesiveness and solidarity,” said Amal Hasan, who is also the Chairperson of Perhumas Aceh,

Amal Hasan, who is also the Chairperson of the Syiah Kuala University Alumni Association (IKA USK) this added, Hapkido Aceh will drop 12 athletes at this XXI PON. All Hapkido athletes are the best sons and daughters of Aceh. Hapkido sports will compete for 16 gold medals, 16 silver and 32 bronze medals.
“This is the first PON for Hapkido Sports to be competed, we want athletes to give the best for Aceh. Please support and pray for the people of Aceh so that Aceh Hapkido athletes can achieve maximum results,” added Amal Hasan.
Aceh Hapkido athletes who will be deployed on PON later have followed various stages of regional training camps (Pelatda) centralization and decentralization. The athletes of the Aceh Hapkido team who are prepared to appear at the PON event include Cindy Amelia Aisyiyah (Dae ryun under 63 Kg female), Rahmi (47 female), Hurairah (high jump) Munazir (84 Kg) Yulianto (54 Kg), Achmad Fuadi Aramiko (72 Kg) Rahmad (62 Kg).
Yulianto and Hurairah are two mainstay athletes of Hapkido Aceh who managed to bring home gold media from the international championship held at Wong Chuk Hang Sport Center, Hong Kong some time ago.
Made its first appearance at PON XXI, Aceh won five medals in the Lion Dance Branch
The Barongsai Sports Branch (Sports) has finished competing in the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) XXI Year.
Of the 10 numbers competed, Aceh won five medals in the sport which is a ‘newcomer’ to the PON event.
Barongsai is an achievement sport that is officially competed in PON 2024, after previously being present as an exhibition branch at PON XIX in 2016 in West Java.
At this PON, the lion dance branch was competed at the Martial Arts Arena, North Sumatra Sport Center Complex, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, from September 4 to 8, 2024.
The five medals won by the Lion Dance Team consisted of two golds in the Pekingsai Speed number and Agility number, two silvers from the Penkingsai Taulo Bebas and Speed numbers, and a bronze medal from the obstacle number.
Aceh Lion Dance Team Coach, Harianto or often called Acong, admitted that he was proud of the maximum effort made by the athletes in the arena.
Even though his children were the first to feel the “heat” of the PON competition, they had a strong mentality, so they could perform optimally, and won among the medals.
“This achievement is thanks to the hard work of the athletes, the support of Pengprov Barongsai Aceh, KONI Aceh, and the prayers of the people of Aceh,” Acong said.
For now, this is the best achievement we can present to the Aceh Contingent. In the future, we will continue to evaluate, so that athletes can achieve more optimally, both at national and international level events.
Meanwhile, Chairman of KONI Aceh H. Kamaruddin Abu Bakar expressed his appreciation and gratitude to athletes, coaches, officials and Pengprov Barongsai Aceh who have won medals.
This achievement is an additional capital for the Aceh Contingent which is trying to win as many gold medals as possible to enter the top 10 rankings, as previously targeted.
“Yes, we salute, because this is the first PON that Aceh lion dance athletes have participated in, and immediately performed optimally by winning two gold, two silver and one bronze,” said Abu Razak, the nickname of H. Kamaruddin Abu Bakar.
Abu Razak added, it is an indication that Aceh has potential athletes who can be fostered to face various championships at regional, national and international levels.
