Simulation of Pilkada Chaos in Langsa Colored by Bomb Explosions
Langsa Police conducted a City Security System Simulation (Sispamkota) in the face of the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada), on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
This activity was attended by the Acting (Pj) Mayor of Langsa, Langsa Police Chief, Chairperson of KIP Langsa City, Chairperson of Panwaslih Langsa City, as well as several other military and government officials.
This simulation began with information from the Head of Intelkam on August 24, 2024 regarding the Langsa Mayor candidate campaign. In the campaign, supporters of the Mayoral candidates delivered speeches to promote the vision and mission of their candidates.
However, the situation turned tense when an unknown person attacked one of the Mayoral candidates. The perpetrator was immediately secured by officers to the Langsa Police. In another location, there was destruction of billboards and campaign attributes by a group of people who allegedly did not accept the arrest.
Then, on November 27, 2024, when voting took place, a commotion occurred between sympathizers of each candidate. However, the situation was successfully controlled by police officers who were alert to secure the location.
After the vote counting process, tensions arose again because one party was dissatisfied with the results. However, the police managed to defuse the situation so that the vote counting process could continue until the delivery of ballot boxes to the KIP office in Langsa City.
On the way to the KIP office, the group carrying the ballot boxes was blocked by a group of supporters of dissatisfied candidates. There was a tug of war over the ballot boxes, but was again successfully resolved by the Langsa Police Spear Team.
The situation became increasingly tense when an anarchist demonstration broke out and there was a clash between the police and the protesters. The Head of Intelkam received information that there had been hostage-taking by a group that was not satisfied with the election results.
The Langsa Police Chief immediately ordered the Head of Operations to coordinate with Danki Brimob to free the hostages who were known to be held in an empty house.
The Brimob team immediately moved and managed to rescue the hostage and arrest the hostage taker. When sterilization was carried out in the empty house, a suspicious object was found which was suspected of being an improvised explosive device.
Danki Brimob immediately ordered the Bomb Disposal Team (Jibom) to secure the crime scene and defuse the bomb.
With caution and dexterity, the Jibom Team from the Pioneer Unit 2B Brimob Aramiah managed to detonate the homemade bomb safely.
Langsa Police Chief, AKBP Andy Rahmansyah, expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the simulation which he considered very successful.
“This is a picture of what we might face if unwanted things happen in the upcoming Pilkada. I hope we can all maintain the dignity of the police and the state in carrying out the task of securing the 2024 Pilkada,” he said.
