ACEH TENGAH | ACEH INFO – The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of Central Aceh held an Extraordinary Conference (KLB) to elect a new chairman and management for the period 2024-2027.
The KLB was held at the Central Aceh PWI Office in Takengon, Saturday, June 29, 2024 followed by the inauguration of the new management by the Chairperson of PWI Aceh, Nasir Nurdin on behalf of the Chairperson of the Central PWI, Hendry Chairuddin Bangun at the Ummi Building of the Central Aceh Regent’s Hall.
In addition to the inauguration of the Chairperson and Management of the Central Aceh PWI, the Chairperson and Management of the Central Aceh Indonesian Journalists Family Association (KWI) were also inaugurated by the Chairperson of IKWI Aceh, Mrs. Hanifah Nasir Nurdin on behalf of the Chairperson of the Central IKWI, Dr. Andi Dasmawati, Ph.D..
Chairman of PWI Aceh, Nasir Nurdin said, the Central Aceh PWI KLB was held in connection with the resignation of Win Yusri Rahman as Chairperson of the Central Aceh PWI for the 2022-2025 period because he passed the selection as Commissioner of the Central Aceh KIP.
In accordance with the Basic Regulations and Bylaws (PD / PRT) of PWI, the Aceh PWI Management issued a Decree (SK) Number: 102.PWI-Aceh.SK.IV.2024 dated April 20, 2024 appointing Kurnia Muhadi as Acting Chairman of PWI Central Aceh.
In carrying out his duties, Kurnia Muhadi was assisted by Irwandi MN as Secretary and Karmiadi as Treasurer.
“The Acting Chairman of PWI Central Aceh together with the Secretary and Treasurer are fully authorized to run the wheels of the organization, secretarial duties, and hold an extraordinary conference to elect new management for the 2024-2027 period,” said Nasir Nurdin accompanied by PWI Aceh Secretary, Muhammad Zairin.

The Chairman of PWI Aceh also reminded, until the end of 2024 a number of district / city PWI management in Aceh will end their management period.
In addition, several others are in the process of increasing the status of the Hall Management to become District / City PWIs.
The management that ended in 2024, namely PWI Sabang, PWI Aceh Tamiang, PWI Aceh Singkil, PWI Nagan Raya, PWI Aceh Jaya, and PWI Subulussalam City.
Meanwhile, those who are in the process of improving the status of the Balai Management are Bener Meriah, Simeulue, and Gayo Lues.
Ready to hold an KLB
Acting Chairman of PWI Aceh Tengah, Kurnia Muhadi in his report to the PWI Aceh Management said that his party was ready to hold an KLB on June 29, 2024.
“The committee comrades have made various preparations to ensure the success of the KLB, “Said Muhadi as Chairman of the Central Aceh PWI KLB Committee accompanied by the Committee Secretary, Irwandi.
The KLB series took place from morning to evening in two separate places, namely at the Central Aceh PWI Office (conference agenda) and the inauguration of the Central Aceh PWI Chairperson and Management for the 2024-2027 period at the Ummi Building of the Central Aceh Regent’s Hall.
“This activity is also coupled with the inauguration of the Central Aceh Indonesian Journalists Family Association (IKWI),” Muhadi said.
The Chairman of PWI Aceh added, a number of PWI and IKWI Aceh administrators will attend the Central Aceh PWI KLB. Meanwhile, the KLB Committee also invited Forkopimda Aceh Tengah, SKPK officials, cross-organizations including journalists outside PWI, NGOs, and other partners.
Red Onion Prices Plummet
The price of shallots has fallen sharply. The National Food Agency revealed that the decline occurred at the farmer (producer) level.
In Bapanas’ records up to August 10, the price of shallots at the farmer level nationwide plunged to the level of IDR 14,900 per kilogram (kg).
“The price of shallots is 40.36% below the Government Reference Price because the harvest period in some regions reaches its peak in July 2024. And the price of shallots as of August 10, 2024 was IDR 14,900/kg,” said Bapanas Deputy for Food Insecurity and Nutrition, Nyoto Suwignyo, during an inflation coordination meeting, as quoted from the Ministry of Home Affairs’ YouTube channel, Monday (12/8/2024).
This figure is quite far from the Government Reference Price (HAP) of shallots at the farm level, which is regulated by the government at IDR 18,500 to IDR 20,000/kg.
Then in Nyoto’s presentation, the price of shallots at the consumer level is also low at IDR 27,385. Whereas the HAP of shallots at the consumer level set by the government is IDR 36,500 to IDR 41,500/kg.
The HAP shallot regulation is contained in the National Food Agency Regulation Number 17 of 2023 concerning Government Reference Prices at the Producer and Consumer Levels for Soybeans, Shallots, Red Cayenne Pepper, Curly Cayenne Pepper, Beef, and Sugar.
Nyoto said there are a number of reasons why shallot prices are in freefall. First, the supply is currently abundant after the main harvest until the end of July 2024.
This year’s total production reached 771.3 thousand tons, which is a decrease of 40 thousand tons compared to the same period last year. However, when production decreased, it turned out that public consumption of shallots also decreased.
“Regarding consumption, the total consumption from January to July 2024 was 691.1 thousand tons. This means that consumption has also decreased by 1,380 tons compared to 2023. There are about 80 tons of shallots whose position is indeed floating. This is what causes prices to tend to decline,” he explained.
Oil prices surge as Pentagon sends submarines and F-35s to Middle East
The price of United States (US) crude oil surged on Monday trading and reached USD 80 per barrel. The reason for this increase in crude oil prices is because the Pentagon is sending more troops to the Middle East in anticipation of an Iranian attack on Israel.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin ordered US aircraft carriers, including F-35 fighters, to accelerate the deployment of troops to the Middle East region. Austin also ordered guided-missile submarines to the Middle East.

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil prices for September contracts closed at USD 80.06 per barrel, up USD 3.22, or 4.19%. From the beginning of the year to date, US crude oil prices have risen 11.7%.
Brent oil prices for October contracts closed at USD 82.30 per barrel, up USD 2.64 or 3.31%. Throughout this year, the price of oil which is a global benchmark has risen 6.8%.
Gasoline prices for the September contract were pegged at USD 2.44 per barrel, up more than 5 cents or 2.2%. This year gasoline prices have risen about 16.2%.
The price of natural gas for the September contract reached USD 2.18 per thousand cubic feet, up more than 4 cents or 2.15%. So far this year gas prices are down almost 13%.
